    DESCRIPTION & CONDITION
This auction is for a 11" x  14" PRESSED SIGNED & REAR STAMPED ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPH (
    not a reprint or copy
), by the well published and recognized Polish/American photographer Theodor Horydczak, who retired in 1959 and died in 1971.  Mr. Horydczak has had write-up's done in several publications after his death, in particular by Beverly W. Brannan (Curator of Photographic collections) in "The Quarterly Journal of the Library of Congress"Vol. 36, No. 1 (winter 1979). Also in "The Washington Post" (2013) and "Historic Camera" (2014). Look them up.  According to these printed biographies of his life and career, he apparently never lived long enough to see any major financial success. However, besides personally selling his own photos in various sizes to museums and cultural institutions, after his death his family donated a treasure trove of photographs and negatives to the Library of Congress and can be viewed on their website. These original RARE photos are now being sought out by collectors and are finally being paid the respect they deserve. This piece your bidding on is a real hand developed photograph, created by the artist in a dark room one at a time from an original negative. The artist stamped the backside and pressed stamped on the front left bottom corner.  The image depicts a wonderful night view of  the US Capital Building after a rain shower and it's well lighted floor reflection that is the same image presented by the Historic Camera article. This item is not dated, however it was pulled from a damaged, old, cheap frame, that appeared to be from the period of the 1920s-30s. I believe the photo was shot in 1921. The frame did not do any justice to the presentation of this masterwork and not worth the weight of shipping.  This item is perfect, with paper age yellowing and a hand written price amount on the upper left backside corner.  Item is now nicely matted and wrapped in clear cellophane plastic for protection and can be removed when re-framing.
NOTE: When you do research on works by this photographer, keep in mind that the prints listed by other Ebay members and other websites are in most cases high quality reprints (copies), digitally produced from original photographs like this one. Hence their low asking price.
According to auction houses 2013 estimated prices, T.H.'s original photos like this one in
    smaller (5"x 7") size to this (11" x 14"),
    range from 0 - 0.  For very large (
4 ft x 6 ft) photos, 00 - 00. This historical photo is a very nice piece for the US history or T. Horydczak Collector.   It's a very nice, historical photo investment. DON'T MISS OUT!
Please look over provided photos carefully and ask any questions  before bidding.
