Consolidated Phoenix glass 5 5/8 inch purple hummingbird floral vase

Description

A hummingbird and floral design flows around this vintage purple finished cameo art glass vase by the Phoenix Glass co. A hummingbird feeds from a flower on each side of the vase, although in different positions. Leaves, flowers and branches overlap on every side of this piece.
Phoenix Glass Co. is located in Monaca, PA. Phoenix began production of art glass in 1932 when 45 to 50 molds from the Consolidated Glass Co. were moved to Phoenix and used until early 1936. This occurred because Consolidated Glass Co. had been forced to shut down due to the Great Depression.
This particular vase has a beautiful semi-translucent dark purple color with some lighter zones. The glass pattern design is attributed to Phoenix/Consolidated. The curvy petite vase is heavy with a thick glass wall. The smoothly polished opening up top measures 2 inches by 1 1/8 inches and the vase stands 5 5/8 inches tall.
This piece is in wonderful vintage condition but does have
minor flaws and factory imperfections including a tiny flea bite from production to the inner glass rim of the opening. There may be other antique surface wear and rub marks as photographed.
